Psychiatrist
1009 Broadway,Brooklyn, NY
I attended Boston University School of Medicine and trained at Yale University. This led to practice at Bellevue and Woodhull Hospitals, and private practice in Bushwick. rnrnMy specialties are depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, and anxiety disorders in adults, but I can consult on whatever is troubling you. rnrnCurrently my practice is mainly medication management. I concede that while medications are helpful, they are not necessarily the key to the solution. I caution against placing too much stock in what they can do. I have seen many people search endlessly for the right and perfect medication when there may be no such thing. And I have found that stopping medications (with care) can be as useful as starting them. rnrnIn my experience, controlled substances are good at throwing a blanket over a problem but fail to address it head on. Medications like Xanax and Klonopin have some place in the treatment of mood, psychotic, and anxiety disorders, but over time can themselves become a problem. Similarly, I am wary of using stimulants to treat attention disorders.
